This fairytale-like animated short film explores the theme of people pleasing behaviour in women. Determined to meet the expectations of her kingdom, a queen suppresses her true nature to belong. But how much of her own identity is she willing to sacrifice for approval?
Confident she’ll be able to charm her way into being liked, the queen smiles politely and says yes to every request, until the story takes a turn for the worse. While being immersed in a world filled with glamorous ballrooms, very pink gowns and shimmering scenes, the price of people pleasing becomes tragically clear.
Inspired by classical fairytales I have created an animation using a combination of 2D and watercolour artworks. By giving the traditional storyline a twist, this film serves as a redemption of the typical ending of the ‘fallen woman’.
